Bout the time of our 2nd born (Mike) arriving in 1960. I Merle was climbing poles for ol Ma Bell out of Redwood Falls Minn. We had rented an apartment above the Ludolf Jensen house in Sacred Heart , couldn't afford anything in the big city of Redwood Falls. Anyway with having only one auto (No Insurance) and I having to use that each day Bobbi Ann was forced to rely on Dad (Melvin) taking her to Doc Schmidt in Granite Falls each of the last 4 months of pregnancy for the monthly checkup. Dad would drop her at the clinic and find a parking spot , do some shopping or conversing with some locals and patiently wait for her to come out of the clinic. Bobbi says each time was exactly the same , Well??? did you gain any extra weight?? If she said Nooo then he would say OK we're going to have an Ice Cream Sundae. If she said maybe a bit to much he would say OK then we're going to go have an Ice Cream Sundae. Of course Dad always , I mean always had Maple Nut. That alone shows the guy had some taste. Whats one of my favorites ? Maple Nut of course.
Bobbi Ann still gets a chuckle out of those memories.
